Hello! I have a Disneyland Resort stay coming up and was wondering if I can used a debit card to stay on file for check in or does it have to be a credit card?

    Hi Angela,

Thanks for visiting planDisney! Your magical vacation is just around the corner! With a stay at one of the Disneyland Resort hotels, the magic will last all day long!

Just to be sure, I chatted with a helpful Cast Member, and they confirmed that you can put both a debit card and a credit card on file. However, they do recommend that you use a credit card. At the start of your stay, you will be charged for incidentals; this charge will be reimbursed when you check out. When you put down a credit card, this will show up as a pending charge that is later removed (processing time by credit card companies varies). When you put down a debit card, the money will be removed from your account. Disney will authorize the reimbursement when you check out, but it may take a while before you receive the funds back (processing time by banks varies). I hope that is helpful information for managing your funds during your trip.

In case you have not heard, I wanted to share with you that during your stay, two special events will be happening. The Food and Wine Festival is taking place at Disney California Adventure and will last until April 21. Check out my fellow panelist Kirss’ review of her favorite things at the festival. You can also check out the Disney Parks guide for an overview of all the festival has to offer. The Season of the Force celebrates Star Wars across Disneyland starting March 28 until May 11. You can view the food guide and the event guide to make sure you don’t miss a thing!

I hope this information is helpful, Angela. If you have any other questions or need help planning, feel free to reach out to me or one of my fellow panelists. We’d be happy to share our thoughts.

    Have a magical vacation!
