I am Disneyland Resort passholder and I’m taking my family in November to Disney's Hollywood Studios to see the new Toys Story Land. I really want to get the park hopper for the Magic Kingdom but I’m hearing it’s the same as Disneyland. Is it really??

    Hi Marquita!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! This is such a fun question for me because I'm a "Walt Disney World Resort Mom" who moved to California over the summer. I now live an hour away from Disneyland Resort and just became an AP myself!

The first time I walked into Disneyland Park, I had that feeling you get when you visit a new grocery store that is the same chain where you're used to shopping, but the layout is slightly different, so some things are in the same place and others aren't.

It's no secret that Magic Kingdom Park was modeled after Walt's original on the West Coast. And the two do share a number of the same attractions. However, I enjoy finding the differences between them. Like is the floor or the ceiling of the stretching room moving? The Splash Mountain and Space Mountain ride vehicles are different. The Haunted Mansion and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad are on the "wrong sides" of Rivers of America. And the biggest difference, literally, is that Cinderella Castle is 189 feet tall vs the 77 foot tall Sleeping Beauty Castle.

One of the things that my Disneyland Moms Panelist friend Jennifer L said that she appreciates most about Walt Disney World Resort is the nostalgia in visiting the attractions that are no longer at Disneyland, like the Tomorrow Land Transit Authority People Mover, Walt Disney's Carousel of Progress, and Country Bear Jamboree.

I think you're going to have a wonderful time in Florida, and I absolutely think you and your family should get multi-day Park Hopper passes to also check out Pandora - The World of Avatar in Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, as well as all the fun Epcot holds. And don't forget to try some of Walt Disney World's exclusive 'Sweet Treats!'

We'll See You Real Soon, Marquita!
