Going to Disneyland resort June 26-28. I’m worried about being able to get in to Disneyland with Galaxy’s Edge being open. I don’t care about getting to see Galaxy’s Edge but I’m worried about really long lineups to get in and the park reaching capacity

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Shelley! It's nice to hEAR from you again.

It seems you are pretty excited about your upcoming visit to the Disneyland Resort. I believe we sometimes think the same way as you do as vacation time approaches, wondering what might go "wrong" and thinking of how we can prepare for it. I'd like to share some of my own experiences to hopefully help alleviate some of those vacation jitters.

To be sure, there is a lot of excitement surrounding the upcoming opening of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge. I confess to being one of the many who simply cannot wait to travel to a galaxy far, far away. But if a stop at Batuu isn't exactly your cup of blue milk, I can appreciate that too. And it certainly doesn't have to negatively impact your vacation. After all, you're going to the Happiest Place on Earth!

In my recent memory, there have been a number of major events or new openings that have generated a lot of buzz and an increase in visitation to the Disneyland Resort. In 2012, Cars Land in Disney California Adventure Park opened to much fanfare and acclaim. It was and continues to be a hit! In 2015, the Disneyland Diamond Celebration debuted the popular Paint the Night Parade and the beloved nighttime spectacular Disneyland Forever. (Note that Disneyland Forever returns this June!) These and other similar events encouraged many of our fellow Disney Parks fans to flock to Disneyland Resort. The energy was palpable. And, you know what? It was fun! It was exciting to be there at special times in the history of the Disneyland Resort. While there may have been somewhat longer wait times for the most popular attractions, we were there among many newfound friends who appreciate the wonder and magic of Disney.

I also feel confident that the magical Cast Members at the Disneyland Resort are doing a marvelous job at preparing for the increase in interest in new park experiences. Project Stardust, the new Pixar Pals Parking Structure, and other enhancements will improve capacity and guest flow through the park. The Annual Passholder blockout calendar is also configured to stagger visitation, especially during the summer months. Even the initial opening period of Galaxy's Edge appears to be a sort of dress rehearsal to make sure that all the necessary preparations are in place to accommodate the expected number of guests this Summer.

As you embark on your journey to Disneyland Resort, I recommend arriving early each day, when there are usually fewer guests. And Disney MaxPass will be a powerful tool to help you enjoy many of the attractions even more.

You're certain to have a magical time, Shelley! See ya real soon!
