Hi Friend, and welcome to planDisney! The Disneyland Resort is the perfect setting for a fairytale moment as important as proposing, and it's a great idea to capture the special occasion so you can remember it forever!
While the Disneyland Resort doesn't currently offer bookable private photo sessions inside the parks, you can still plan to capture the special moment with
Disney PhotoPass service. Choose a PhotoPass location, wait in line, and plan to propose once the photographer is ready. Sleeping Beauty Castle is a popular spot, but it is not very private – other Guests will likely be watching and cheering once the proposal happens. You can search for more PhotoPass locations in the
Disneyland mobile app – navigate to the map and scroll along the top until you get to the "PhotoPass" icon. One more note: if you have the
Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you'll get unlimited downloads of the PhotoPass photos you take that day.
Another possibility is a Photo Excursion. These complimentary 10–15 minute photo sessions can’t be reserved in advance and are subject to availability. Look for PhotoPass photographers roaming areas of the park, such as Main Street, U.S.A., Frontierland, Adventureland, or Fantasyland. If you encounter one of them, you can ask for a Photo Excursion. This could be perfect for either the proposal itself or for engagement photos afterward. You can even pick up complimentary “Happily Ever After” buttons at City Hall or select retail locations to wear. Bride and groom ear headbands also make great photo accessories!
If you’re hoping for a slightly different setting, perhaps with a friend or family member secretly snapping photos, here are a few other ideas:
- Snow White Grotto, just to the side of the castle, offers a slightly quieter atmosphere with a waterfall and wishing well.
- The closing line for the Wondrous Journeys nighttime spectacular is the perfect setup for a proposal. It goes, "I, for one, think what comes next will be wondrous." I once saw a proposal happen in front of the castle at this moment of the show and still think about it from time to time. It was so perfect. I should mention that fireworks may get cancelled in the event of inclement weather (including windy conditions at higher elevations), but the projections usually continue.
- The World of Color Dessert Party could also be a great setting for a proposal. You'd be seated at a table with a great view of the show and an assortment of tasty desserts. World of Color Happiness! has the most beautiful finale, featuring towering fountains, vibrant colors, and a great song. Keep checking to see if reservations become available for the date of your visit.
