Hi, Aurie!
I remember many years ago when my family had only ever visited the Disneyland Resort and how excited we were when we decided to make our first venture to Walt Disney World! I'm so excited for you guys! What a great way to celebrate two special birthdays!
The first thing you'll want to do is to pick up free "Happy Birthday" buttons either at your Resort hotel or at Guest Services when you enter your first Theme Park. This is the best way for Cast Members to know that you're celebrating a birthday and you'll get lots of wishes as you walk around! At Walt Disney World, dining reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance and they book up quickly at some of the more popular locations. You didn't mention if you've made any for your trip, but don't fear if you haven't. Occasionally, Guests cancel their reservations at the last minute for one reason or another and you may be able to get into one of them as a walk-up. I recommend calling Disney Dining right away at 407.WDW.DINE [939.3463] to see what is available during your vacation and they'll be glad to help. Be sure you let them know that you're celebrating two birthdays and they'll notate your reservation. Just be as flexible as you can with your times, like you may be able to get a dinner reservation at around 8:00 p.m. instead of during the regular dinner hour.
We bought a special set of birthday Mickey Mouse Ears and we take turns wearing it and posing silly with the Characters. I have a feeling your 10-year old might really get a kick out of that, especially if you do it together! Also, check out the super fun ways to add a little bit of extra magic from
Disney Floral and Gifts too!
I'm just about out of room for this answer, but please write back in if I can be of further assistance! Wishing you and your son a Pixie Dusted birthday celebration!
