Will the Disneyland parking garages allow us to use the handicap spots if we have a temporary placard from Utah? Or do we need to get a special travel placard?

    Hi there, Katelyn!

Thanks for coming to planDisney. It's a pleasure to help a fellow Beehive State resident get ready to visit The Happiest Place on Earth!

Whether you use the connected Mickey & Friends or Pixar Pals parking structures or the Toy Story Parking Area, you'll find a convenient and friendly start to your visit at the Disneyland Resort. In my experience, the state of California offers full reciprocity to residents of other states related to accommodations for Guests with valid disability parking permits, including temporary placards. It can be an uncertain thing going into such an arrangement without knowing for certain ahead of time. Just in case, I reached out to a few of my friends here in Utah to confirm that they have had no trouble using their temporary disability placards when traveling to the Golden State. The Disneyland Resort follows the legal requirements of the state of California. So you should not experience any issues when using a valid placard during your visit.

When you arrive at the parking garages or parking area, be sure to ask the Cast Member who accepts your payment or parking voucher for the correct direction to go for parking for Guests with disabilities. Other parking attendants stationed throughout the garages and parking area will also be happy to direct you. If designated spots for disabled Guests happen to be full, a Cast Member will direct you to another location that is still relatively close to an elevator at the parking garages or near the bus stop at the Toy Story Parking Area. In any case, you'll be that much closer to stepping into a "world of yesterday, tomorrow and fantasy."

Tony's Tip: While we are enjoying our first "ride" of the day (the tram ride or bus ride) I like to take a moment to check everything is in place with the Disneyland mobile app. I make sure our theme park tickets or Magic Key passes are loaded and showing in my account. I link our MagicBands+ and make sure they are good to go with the latest updates. And I check out menus for our most important stop of the morning: breakfast!

I hope your visit to the Disneyland Resort is as magical as can be, Katelyn. If you've got some more time from now until you travel, I hope you'll visit us again here at planDisney. We are a group of regular Guests like you who are as excited as can be to help fellow visitors make the most of their time at the Disneyland Resort. It would be an honor to hear from you again and offer you all the support we can as you prepare for your adventure at the Disneyland Resort.

    Have a great time, Katelyn!
    ~Tony
