I have disneyland one day park hopper tickets that were obtained through the disney charity program (given to a nonprofit and I purchased them at auction) that expire at the end of 2021. Is there any way to get these tickets extended?

    Welcome to planDisney, Bethany!

Congratulations on picking up a little piece of the magic of the Disneyland Resort! I’m thinking happy thoughts and wishing upon a star that you will be able to use your tickets soon. The Disneyland Resort is doing a great job with their phased reopening. Until we know more information from the state of California and local governments, the theme parks will remain closed. I’m confident the Cast Members will be ready to safely receive Guests as soon as authorization is granted.

The Disneyland Resort has announced that the expiration dates of select ticket types will be extended automatically. This includes certain promotional tickets, tickets sold to select international Guests, and Military Salute tickets. For the time being, other ticket types are not included in this group of automatic expiration date extensions. Most regular, multi-day theme park tickets that are wholly unused will retain their original value even after they expire. That value can then be applied toward the purchase of new theme park tickets. You can check the terms printed on your tickets to see if that may apply to you. Unfortunately, most “complimentary” tickets may not fall in that category, as they usually have no monetary value associated with them.

Perhaps that is not the happily-ever-after ending you were hoping for at this time. But don’t give up yet! Things are still pretty fluid as conditions unfold during the temporary closure of the theme parks. Perhaps with a little faith, trust, and pixie dust, it will all work out in the end. If you happen to have a friend or family member who plans to visit the Disneyland Resort before your own planned vacation, perhaps they would be able to make use of your tickets before they expire. Of course, it is also a good idea to keep an eye on the Disneyland Resort website and the Disney Parks Blog. Any news and changes in policy or procedures should be announced there.

I’m grateful that you stopped by planDisney, Bethany. I’m excited for you as you continue to plan your next visit to The Happiest Place on Earth! I hope you will visit us again soon. We’d be glad to answer any additional questions you have about the Disneyland Resort and other Disney Parks.
