We will be at Disneyland Oct. 22 celebrating my mom’s 88th Birthday. I am trying to find out if there are any special experiences I can book for her. Maybe a Fantasmic experience or fireworks experience, or a ride in the LillyBelle.

    Hiya Karen!

Celebrating a birthday at Disneyland Park is always amazing, but an 88th birthday? Wow! That is really special and I'm so excited to give you some ideas to make the day memorable for your mom.

I think a guided tour would be a lovely birthday gift! There are two options happening during your visit:

    • The Happiest Haunts Tour is all things spooky and delightful! With a couple of hours to explore Disneyland Park with your group, you'll hear some frightful park history, enjoy an attraction, and even take a very special photo with the Hitchhiking Ghosts from the Haunted Mansion. This tour also gives guests access to a reserved viewing area for Halloween Screams, the nighttime spectacular of the season!
    • Walt's Main Street Story Tour is a must for any Disney history enthusiast. You'll stroll around Main Street, U.S.A. with your group and learn about the early days of the park before heading up into one of the most exclusive spots at the resort: Walt's apartment! Peeking out the window of the apartment to see the bustle of guests below is a feeling I will never forget.
Whether you reserve a tour or not, you definitely need to stop by City Hall to get your mom a complimentary birthday button. Then everyone can wish her a happy birthday during your visit! I also really love to visit the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique for a quick sprinkle of pixie dust. Just ask a Fairy Godmother's Apprentice and they will be happy to dust anyone in your group who has a happy thought and wants a little sparkle. Pixie dust is complimentary, too!

A birthday is a great time for a special souvenir. Some celebratory personalized ears, a piece of art, a customized ornament, or a silhouette (maybe of you and your mom together!) can all be found right on Main Street, U.S.A. for the birthday girl.

Most of all, don't forget to take plenty of photos! The paths off to the sides of Sleeping Beauty Castle are a great place to take some pictures with less of a crowd. But I find that many of my favorite pictures from our visits are the ones that no one knew I was taking! Snap a few candid shots of your mom walking toward the castle, enjoying a ride, or hugging a character. Just catch her being herself!

I am so excited for you and your mom to celebrate her birthday, Karen. Please pass along my birthday wishes to her, too!

    Keep moving forward!
