Hello there Sharmay,
Welcome to planDisney and thank you so much for your question! I'm happy to see that you'll be in the parks next week - how exciting! It will be such a fun way for you and your husband to make new magical memories with your little Mouseketeer.
My wife and I took trips to the parks with both of our kids when they were toddlers and - while it depends on the temperament of your little one - we actually found that the best way to approach those trips were to NOT have a specific and detailed itinerary, but rather to have a more flexible schedule with back up plans if our kiddos were having an unexpectedly rough time.
Overall, our trips were absolutely amazing, but as you can imagine, around the afternoon nap time was typically when we saw the most melt downs. Therefore, we ended up chunking up our day so that we'd get to the parks right at open, head back to the hotel for a short nap after lunch, and then head back to a park for the late afternoon into the evening.
On days where we were at Disneyland Park, we'd head to Fantasyland right at open and try to hit as many attractions as possible. Just keep in mind that some of those attractions might have some scary elements for toddlers - our youngest reminds us that she is not a fan of Mr. Toad's Wild Ride.
Once we're done there, we'd often make our way through
Star Wars Galaxy's Edge to try to run in to some characters and get some Blue Milk or stop by Oga's Cantina. One of our favorite videos from a trip a few years ago was when our son was a toddler and he was having a dance party in the cantina.
Next, we'll usually prioritize
Mickey's Toontown, which has a lot of fun areas for the tiniest of Mouseketeers to explore and there are frequent character encounters around that area of the park. Both attractions in this area - Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin and Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway - can be ridden by Guests of any height. Just keep in mind that elements of these rides might be a bit scary to little ones, again depending on their temperament. Though I would say both of our kids tended to not like the scarier (for little kids) rides but tended to enjoy both of these. It just all depends on the kiddo!
I could go on for days (so feel free to come back and ask a follow up question on any more details we can help with), but to wrap up with a few final tips. Since I spent all my time describing toddler-fun in Disneyland Park, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that
Cars Land and
Avengers Campus were typically our prioritized lands when our kiddos were toddlers.
Additionally, I would highly encourage you to take advantage of the wonderful
Baby Care Centers - they're not just for babies! They have vending machines with just about any kind of item you might need to make a trip smoother with little ones. They also have changing tables, toddler-sized toilets, and it's generally a nice place to get away for a few minutes if your toddler is overstimulated. For rainy days, make sure to bring a rain cover for your stroller! We really like to spend time in the
Animation Academy Building if it's raining hard outside.
Thanks again for your question Sharmay, and have a wonderful visit.
