Hi, going to Disneyland for New Years Eve. We will be staying for 3 nights. Can you recommend any special activities designed for New Years? We know Disneyland and California Adv Park pretty well and would like the kids to have a new experience. Thanks

    Hi, Karla!

I’m glad you’ll be ringing in the New Year at The Happiest Place on Earth! The Disneyland Resort theme parks will stay open later than usual and offer extra entertainment, like live performances, parades and special fireworks displays.

Keep in mind that Dec. 31 and Jan. 1 are two of the busiest days of the year at the theme parks. Particularly on New Year’s Eve, it’s best to arrive first thing in the morning and pick one park to stay in all day since both parks will likely reach capacity. Bring any items you may want later, such as sweaters or jackets, and reserve a locker right away if you will want one.

You may want to book a special dinner that evening at one of the table-service restaurants inside the theme parks, like Carthay Circle Restaurant or Blue Bayou Restaurant. Napa Rose at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa usually offers a special dinner event on New Year’s Eve. For details and to make reservations, call (714) 781-DINE (3463).

The area near the “it's a small world” attraction is one of a few of locations that feature live bands and entertainment throughout the night. The most popular location to welcome the New Year is in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle, a prime spot to view the “Ring in the New Year” fireworks spectacular, and near the Rivers of America is another great place to be in Disneyland Park when the clock strikes midnight. If you’re in Disney California Adventure Park, a prime location is the World of Color viewing area overlooking Paradise Bay. Last year, Glow with the Show ear hats were synced to the countdown, providing an extra special element of magic! Cast Members usually pass out free noisemakers and hats, and you can also purchase New Year's-themed ear hats.

I hope this helps, Karla, and that you have a Happy New Year at the Disneyland Resort!

    Wishing you magic,
    Courtney
