We are going to Disneyland May 29. The first time for all of us. What things should we sign up for now/ahead of time?

Hi Barbara! Welcome back to planDisney! You have no idea how thrilling it is for me to hear about this special visit to the Happiest Place on Earth you have coming up (very soon)! And I'm so honored to be a part of helping you plan a magical day!

First things first, make sure you have a park reservation! It's essential. Then, I encourage you to take a look at the Enchanting Extras Collection on the Disneyland website, as these experiences require a little bit of pre-planning, if anyone is interested in adding a bit of extra magic.

Barbara, you also may want to have a dining reservation secured for your big Disneyland day. To search dining locations where reservations are accepted, scroll the options on the Disneyland website. Feel free to use the park map and explore. This way you can easily see where the dining location is located within the park and if it makes sense based on your plans. Don't forget about a Fantasmic! Dining Package or Character Dining! There's also the brand-new Paint the Night Dining Package at Plaza Inn. Although this one is extremely popular and may not have availability on your date.

It's important to know, Barbara, that the reservation system is updated regularly as Guests modify or cancel plans, so keep checking as your visit approaches if you have your heart set on a certain dining location or experience.

TIP: I highly recommend that you and your party have a solid idea what your 3-4 highest priorities are before arriving to the parks. Spend time together looking at the Daily Events Schedule to know what entertainment will be happening (spoiler alert: there's so much!), as well as exploring the park maps in the Disneyland app to decide what looks the most appealing to your group. Make your plan based on these priorities.

I hope this information has been helpful in your planning, Barbara, but oh my goodness, there's just so much more I could share, like all the fun to be had at Disneyland's 70th Celebration! Please stop by again and ask me another question!

But no matter how you and your party decide to spend your Disneyland day, remember, it's the time spent together that's the real magic. I'm so very excited for you all. Enjoy.

    Warmest wishes,
    McCayla

Hello from the Pacific Northwest! I'm McCayla, a wife and mom dreaming of adventure in the great wide somewhere, yet also completely content watching Toy Story from the couch. My love of Disneyland began as a little girl on Peter Pan's Flight and only grows with each visit. But even when I'm not physically at the Happiest Place on Earth, I truly feel that same joy when I can help others (YOU!) experience the magic of Disneyland Resort too.
