I am going to Disneyland for the first time for New Years. My question is What is the weather usually like around that time of year since I have never been to California and are the hotel pools open (want to know if I need to pack my bathing suit or not)?

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Victoria! I am so happy to help you with another great question about visiting the Disneyland Resort!

One of the glorious things about southern California, is that the weather is nearly perfect all the time. This past December and January, temperatures were in the 60s and 70s (and even a few 80s!) most days of both months. Since the mornings and evenings will probably be about 20 degrees cooler this time of year, you will definitely want to layer. A jacket will be needed if you plan to be at the parks for rope drop and again when you are enjoying the parks at night. During the day, though, you could totally be comfortable in shorts and a t-shirt. You might also want to pack an umbrella just in case there is the possibility of any rain.

If you are staying at one of the Disneyland Resort Hotels then definitely plan to bring your swimsuit as all the pools are heated! There are also hot tubs at each hotel that would be a welcome relief if it happens to be cooler this coming December.

Please stop by again with any other questions you may have. Happy planning!
