We will be going to Disneyland at the end of Sept. I have 4yo, 3yo, and 15 mo. Other than the parks, what other experiences should we not miss out on? Any particular dining events? etc.

Greetings, Elena, and thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! You’re going to love visiting the Disneyland Resort in September. Halloween Time will be in full swing, with frightfully-fun decorations and Character experiences, including seeing your favorite Characters in their Halloween costumes

As the mom of three Mouseketeers under the age of 8, I’d be happy to pass along several ideas for “must-do” experiences for your family during your Disney days. For starters, I’d recommend booking the new Plaza Inn Dining Package for the Main Street Electrical Parade. Here’s how it works: Make a Dining Package reservation for your family anytime between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM for lunch at Plaza Inn. The Dining Package includes one lunch entrée and drink per Guest. The entrée includes delicious fried chicken breast, pulled pork, macaroni and cheese, baked beans, corn cobette, watermelon, and corn bread, along with New York cheesecake for dessert. There’s also a children’s version of this entrée for your little ones. When you’re done eating, you’ll receive a voucher that provides access to the parade’s reserved viewing area for the first parade of the evening, which is currently scheduled for 8:40 PM. This is a great help, so you don’t have to spend as much time holding a spot with restless toddlers!

Speaking of Entertainment, I think your Mouseketeers would love Disney Junior Dance Party! in Hollywood Land, it’s my children’s favorite! This highly-interactive show features Disney Junior Characters like Vampirina and Doc McStuffins, and even Mickey and Minnie Mouse! Plus, it encourages kids to stand up and sing and dance along with their favorite songs, which is a great way to get the wiggles out.

Also, since September 24 is an Oogie Boogie Bash -- A Disney Halloween Party night in Disney California Adventure Park, I'd recommend starting your day there (if you're park-hopping) and ending at Disneyland Park, since Disney California Adventure Park is scheduled to close at 6:00 PM for the Party.

Lastly, the Resort offers wonderful resources for families with little ones, including Baby Care Centers, stroller rentals, and locker rentals. Don’t forget to download the Disneyland app, too! It’s a great handy helper inside the parks.

Wishing you and your family a vacation filled with Disney magic!

My family of five can’t get enough of the magic and happiness we encounter every time we step foot on Main Street, U.S.A.
