Greetings, Matthew, and thanks for bringing your question to planDisney!
This year has definitely been a doozey, and I can’t wait to say farewell to it later this evening! Like you, I sure do miss the epic
fireworks spectaculars displayed at the
Disneyland Resort! Unfortunately, the Disneyland Resort doesn’t have any fireworks scheduled to celebrate New Year’s Eve tonight. However, I'm happy to report that
Downtown Disney District has begun
a phased reopening, and
will be open until 8:00 PM tonight. So, you still have some time to end 2020 with great post-holiday sales at the Happiest Place on Earth! Downtown Disney will also be open tomorrow for New Year’s Day, from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM. That’s plenty of time to stock up on some new Disney merchandise to ring in the New Year!
To help you prepare for your visit to Downtown Disney District, I recommend
clicking here to find out everything you’ll need to know before your arrival. For starters, face coverings are currently required for all Guests ages 2 and up. As for parking, I recommend heading to the Simba Lot, where you can self-park for a rate of $10 per car. (Prices are subject to change without notice). Upon arrival, be prepared for a temperature and security screening before entering Downtown Disney. Once inside, you may need to enter a virtual queue for busier shops such as
World of Disney,
Disney Home, and
Marceline’s Confectionery. Inside Disney California Adventure Park, you may also need to enter a virtual queue for
Elias & Co. and
Trolley Treats.
Also, keep in mind that restaurants and dining locations that aren’t offering take-out are currently closed. If you do happen to purchase food or beverages to-go, you’ll need to head off-property before opening and consuming them. However, select retail locations remain open, so you can still get a taste of Disney magic!
I recommend staying tuned to the
Disney Parks Blog and
Disneyland.com for all the latest reopening updates. I'm crossing my fingers that we’ll be watching fireworks and celebrating the reopening of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park soon!
Happy New Year, Matthew! Wishing you a happy, healthy, magical 2021!
