Hi there, Marian! Welcome to planDisney!
As a proud dog dad myself, I completely understand wanting to bring your furry family member along for the magic. My camera roll might be split right down the middle between pictures of my pups and photos of
Sleeping Beauty Castle—so I can absolutely relate to how hard it is to leave them behind when heading off on a Disneyland adventure!
Unfortunately, I don’t have the paw-sitively perfect news you were hoping for. The Disneyland Resort no longer offers an on-site kennel or boarding facility, and only
trained service animals are permitted inside the theme parks.
But don’t lose hope, Marian! There are still plenty of ways to keep your four-legged pal close to the magic while you enjoy the parks. Many of the nearby
Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotels are pet-friendly and located just a short walk or drive from the gates. Some even offer special amenities like designated walking areas or welcome treats for pets. Staying at one of these hotels might allow you to check in on your dog during a midday break or between park hopping adventures. You can browse the list of
pet-friendly Good Neighbor Hotels on the website—a few even offer vacation packages that combine hotel stays with park tickets!
If you’re looking for more structured care during the day, you’ll also find several reputable dog-sitting and daycare services in the Anaheim area. Many local providers offer flexible options, from short-term daycare to overnight boarding, so your pup can enjoy some pampering of their own while you’re making magical memories.
And since I know it’s tough leaving our furry friends behind, one of my favorite traditions is to bring home a little souvenir just for them. The Disneyland Resort carries an adorable line of pet merchandise—I’ve seen all sorts of cute items, from Mickey-patterned collars to dog bowls, plush toys, and even matching Spirit Jerseys. You can usually find them at
World of Disney in the
Downtown Disney District, in the
Emporium in Disneyland Park, or even in the shops along
Buena Vista Street at Disney California Adventure Park. Let’s just say my dog’s wardrobe might rival Mickey’s at this point!
Marian, I know it’s not quite the same as having your pup by your side on Main Street, U.S.A., but with a bit of planning, both of you can still share in the Disney magic—one inside the parks and one waiting for extra cuddles when you return. Wishing you a tail-wagging, heart-warming visit filled with happy memories and maybe a souvenir or two for your best friend back home.
See you real soon—and give that good pup an extra treat for me!
