For Disneyland, I currently have all the tickets on my app. I plan on buying lightning lanes once in the park. If my husband downloads the app also, how do I link us so he can access the lightning lane passes in case we want to split up with the kids?

    Hiya, Alison! Welcome to planDisney!

It sounds like you're already two steps ahead for your visit to The Happiest Place on Earth by having your theme park tickets purchased and linked to your account—that’s a fantastic start. And here’s even better news: once you purchase Lightning Lane passes, they’ll automatically be assigned to those tickets. That means as long as your husband has those same tickets linked in his Disneyland mobile app, he’ll be able to view and redeem the Lightning Lane return times from his own device. Perfect for those moments when your family wants to split up and enjoy different attractions!

Getting the tickets linked to his app is super easy. On your phone, open the Disneyland app, tap the menu (☰) button, and select “My Tickets & Passes.” You should see all your tickets right there. Now, have your husband open the app on his phone and navigate to that same “My Tickets & Passes” section. He’ll tap the blue plus (+) in the top right and choose “Link Tickets & Passes.” From there, he can simply scan each ticket’s barcode from your phone using his device’s camera—or he can type in the ticket ID numbers if he prefers. The camera method is definitely the quickest! Once he’s done, the tickets will show up in his app… just like magic.

After your tickets are linked and you’ve purchased your Lightning Lane access, both you and your husband will be able to make Lightning Lane selections from your respective devices. Each time you book an eligible attraction, you can choose which Guest(s) in your linked party will be joining you.

Now comes the tricky part: deciding which type of Lightning Lane pass to purchase! Lightning Lane Multi Pass is a great choice if you’d like flexible access to a variety of beloved attractions across both Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park. It offers a convenient way to experience many fan-favorite rides with shorter wait times, making it especially helpful for families who want smoother pacing throughout the day.

Lightning Lane Single Pass, on the other hand, is designed for some of the resort’s most popular attractions—the biggies like Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Radiator Springs Racers. Since these high-demand experiences aren’t included with Multi Pass, Single Pass is perfect when there’s a specific must-do ride your family doesn’t want to miss. Many Guests mix and match depending on their plans, so feel free to choose whatever works best for your crew!

Alison, I hope this helps you get everything set up just the way you need it! If any other questions pop up as you’re planning your visit, we’re always happy to help here at planDisney.

    Have a magical day!
