Hi there, Kathryn,
While the Disneyland Resort encourages cashless and even contactless payments, cash is also accepted as payment at
shops,
restaurants, and most
experiences, including
Savi's Workshop – Handbuilt Lightsabers and
Droid Depot.
There are a few things that can only be purchased with a debit card, credit card, or
Disney Gift Card. They include using the
Disneyland mobile app to: place
mobile food and beverage orders, buy souvenirs using
Merchandise Mobile Checkout, purchase the
Disney Genie+ service, and purchase return times for attractions with an
individual Lightning Lane not included with Genie+.
Tony’s Tip: As I mentioned, Disney Gift Cards are accepted for payment within the Disneyland mobile app. They are also accepted at nearly all point of sales locations throughout the Disneyland Resort. (Only non-Disney locations cannot accept Disney Gift Cards at this time. They are located mostly in the Downtown Disney District.) I consider carrying Disney Gift Cards safer than carrying cash, especially if it is a
Disney Gift Card eGift added to my phone’s digital wallet. And for budget-conscious parents, like me, many stores sell Disney Gift Cards at a discount to customers with a membership or store payment card, including discount warehouse clubs and retailers like
Target.
I hope you and the children visiting the Disneyland Resort have a magical time, Kathryn. Please visit us at planDisney again if there is anything else we can help with during your preparations to visit The Happiest Place on Earth!
