I have the Disneyland App on my phone. Can I link my son's Magicband+ to my account? Or does he need to have his own account?

    Hi there, Joseph!

Welcome to planDisney! Using MagicBand+ in the parks is such a great option for kids, my own little Mouseketeers love theirs!

You can definitely manage a MagicBand+ for your child on your own mobile device using the Disneyland Mobile App, he doesn't need to have his own account. I manage my own band, plus two for my kids on the same account! I'd be happy to walk you through the steps to get paired up and ready to go.

To pair a MagicBand+ to your Disneyland Mobile App just follow these steps:

    1. Go to the main menu of the app by tapping the "≡" icon and then tap "MagicBand+"
    2. To add a new band tap the "+" in the top right corner
    3. Make sure your MagicBand+ is turned on by pushing the button on the back once, then tap the button on your app to "Open Scanner to Link"
    4. Hold your MagicBand+ close to your phone until it's detected by your device; you may need to move it around a little to find the best spot, but it's usually the backside of your phone toward the top
    5. If you have any trouble check out the tips on the support page
Once your band is successfully paired with your phone it will appear in the main "MagicBand+" section of the app where you started pairing. Now you're ready to assign it to a ticket! This is the part that makes it unique to your son, and if someone else in your party wants to use his band then you'll need to reassign it. In the MagicBand+ section of the app tap on the text just under your connected band that says "Assign Ticket or Magic Key Pass" and select your son's ticket. Then tap "Assign" to finish the process. Now that band is specifically linked to your son's ticket and will allow him to use it just like scanning a ticket barcode at a park entrance or Lightning Lane.

Here's a fun little extra: your son can customize the settings on his band! If you tap on the band icon in the app it will open a menu where you can scroll down and choose a theme color and also adjust the brightness, vibration, and other settings. Cool, right?

Your son is going to be delighted by the ways his MagicBand+ interacts with the parks! Some rides have special little moments with the bands, and the nighttime spectaculars will definitely make his band glow with magic. My kids love using MagicBand+ to go exploring while we play Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters. Use the Force (and your bands) to track down villainous scum and turn them in, and make sure you keep an eye out for famous warriors from across the galaxy!

Joseph, if you have trouble with the MagicBand+ don't forget that you can always chat with a Cast Member in the Disneyland Mobile App or ask a Cast Member at the resort for help. I hope your son loves his band and that you both have a fantastic visit to the parks!

    Keep moving forward!
