Hi, Andrea!
I am so glad you are planning on having a stroller for your 5 year old. Even though kids may have stopped using strollers at home, there is a LOT of walking at Walt Disney World so a stroller makes all the difference.
Strollers can be rented at any of the theme parks or Disney Springs for $15 per day for a single, $31 per day for a double. There is a small discount if you purchase a multi-day rental. (Rentals at
Disney Springs require a credit card deposit.)
The benefits of renting a stroller are that you do not have to haul yours around the airport and worry about folding it up before boarding any of the
transportation buses around property. It is also nice not having it take up valuable space in your hotel room. The downside of renting is the cost. Make sure you have this cost budgeted into your plans.
If you plan to bring your own, it is definitely a cost savings. If your budget is tight, bringing your own stroller is the way to go. It is also nice to have your own stroller if you are staying at a large resort, this way your little one has a ride wherever he goes (rental strollers must remain in the park).
The final decision is up to you. You may want to purchase an inexpensive umbrella stroller that you can fold up easy. Since your son is 5, you do not need anything fancy, just some wheels to get you around! Take a look at some options, then you can decide what will work best for your family.
Have a magical vacation in Walt Disney World!
Cathy
