We are going to Disney World and were wondering if a 5year old would possibly need a stroller?

    Hi Andy,

Five is a great age to visit WDW! You know your child better than anyone so let me give you some things to think about before making a decision. WDW resort is huge & each theme park is big too, especially AK & Epcot - a LOT of walking.

I'm not sure if you plan to go back to your resort during the day for a break. Think about how long you plan to stay in the parks & if your 5 yr old has the stamina to go that long & hard. Don't forget to factor in the time that it takes to get back to your resort. Weather can play a part - if its really hot, little ones tend to tire out more quickly. The walking that you will do will be in a crowd so think about how well your child navigates in a sea of people. Strollers also provide comfy seats for parades & fireworks.

If you think that your 5 yr old has the stamina leave your stroller at home. There are ones available for rent at the parks if you decide you need one. Strollers are for rent on a 1st come basis & can't leave the park in which it was rented. If you park hop, you can take your receipt to the next park to get a stroller - if available.  When your 5 yr old isn't in the stroller you can use it as a cart for backpacks or anything you're carrying to give yourself a break.

My 5 yr old has been coming to WDW since before he was 1 & still loves crawling in a stroller to chill. He usually makes it through the fireworks but passes out before we reach the front entrance on the way out. Its at that point of the day, I'm very thankful I have a stroller so I don't have to carry him because I'm worn out too. Hope this gives you a little food for thought when making your decision.  Wishing you magical memories :-)
