Hello! We are going to Disney World for a week in December and I am looking at the dining plan. My son will be 2.5 but he is an eater - am I able to get the dining plan for him although he will not have a ticket or is it best to just pay his way for meal

Hey there, Jinni. Thanks for stopping by the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question.

You are vacationing at Walt Disney World during my favorite time of year. I just love all of the holiday decorations that are on display throughout the Walt Disney World Theme Parks and the Resort Hotels. It's beautiful.

While the Disney Dining Plan isn't available for your son, I do have some good news for you. Your son and all children under the age of 3 are able to dine for free while on vacation. At all-you-care-to-enjoy restaurants like 'Ohana at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort or Cape May Cafe at Disney's Beach Club Resort, you are able to fix your son as many of his own personal plates from the buffet that he cares to have. When my daughter was younger, we choose to dine at these style restaurants a lot because of this. Also, several of the buffets are character meals which are really fun at that age. At restaurants where each person chooses an entree from the menu, like at California Grill, your son is able to plate share with anyone at the table that you wish. If at this style of restaurant you want to order your son something else, only then would you be required to pay something.

I hope this helps, Jinni. If you have any other questions before your trip, please come back and ask us!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
