We have never been to Disney World before and are trying to plan our first trip. We are still undecided whether to go in late May or early to mid August. Can you recommend what time what month would be best as far as price and crowds?

Hi Veronica! I would definitely go in late May. May is one of my favorite times of the year to visit Walt Disney World; it's an easy joice over mid-August. The crowds will be less (except maybe for Memorial Day Weekend) and the weather will generally be much nicer. That said, Disney may offer Free Dining again in mid to late August. However, I would still go in May! Since it is your visit, I highly recommend picking up the book "The Complete Walt Disney World" by Julie and Mike Neal. It is a great book for first time visitors, as it is full of information but not overwhelming! Write back with more questions!
