“
I've been going to Disney World since the 1970s and staying until the park closed, but I've never seen the "Goodnight Kiss." How long has it been in existence?”
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Linda, you've stirred a flood of poignant memories for me.
“The Kiss Goodnight” is my most favorite thing to see before I leave, in tears, with a huge lump in my throat, because it still happens, on most nights, from 20 minutes to an hour after “Wishes Nighttime Spectacular” is finished, a fanfare begins, where Main Street, U.S.A. comes alive with Disney music, gently summoning all Guests to look over at the most beautiful castle in the land…
Cinderella Castle, twinkling with sparkling lights and changing through beautiful, vibrant colors, and then the tears start streaming down my face, because “When You Wish Upon a Star” begins to play through a chorus of singers…and then more tears because I hear “Ladies and gentlemen; boys and girls. On behalf of everyone here at the Magic Kingdom, we thank you for joining us today. We hope that your magical journey with us has created wonderful memories that will last a lifetime. Walt Disney said the Magic Kingdom is the world of imagination, hopes, and dreams. In the timeless land of enchantment, magic and make-believe are reborn and fairy tales come true. The Magic Kingdom is a place for the young and young at heart; a special place where when you wish upon a star your dreams really do come true. Until we see you again, have a safe trip home; thank you and good night.”
Mickey then says, “So long everybody! See you real soon!” ending with the orchestra playing “When You Wish Upon a Star.”
Unforgettable happens here and for us, Linda, Walt Disney World Resort vacations are a tradition. I thank you for this question, as it is the most magical question for me which brought me to happy tears.
I hope you have this incredible experience soon, Linda, thank you for this wonderful question!
