We will be at Disney World over my son's 3rd birthday in January. I know he will get a special button at the resort, but I was wondering if there were any restaurants or anything else in the parks that did anything special over birthdays?

Hello, Casey! Birthdays even more magical when celebrated at Walt Disney World. I took my son for his 5th birthday last August and we had a blast. You wouldn't want me to ruin all of the fun surprises would you? Yes? Ok in that case, I will tell you the special birthday recognition that my son received, but I must remind you that all experiences are not the same and that it is not guaranteed that you will receive anything for your celebration.

When we checked into our Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, my son got a birthday button, a balloon and a small Pluto plush. That night we had dinner reservations at Chef Mickey's where my son got a cupcake with a candle and a card signed by all of the characters. He got another card and cupcake at The Crystal Palace breakfast and our table had Mickey shaped confetti all over it . For our Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant reservations I think he got a cupcake and a card signed by all of the servers. And at our meal at San Angel Inn Restaurante in Epcot I believe that he received a scoop of ice cream with a candle. When I called and made reservations they put a celebration note on all of my dining reservations. You can do this too by calling (407) 939-1947 and adding a celebration.

I've also had a friend that had a room upgrade because there was a birthday celebration noted. Sometimes Disney goes heavy handed with the pixie-dust, but it's never guaranteed. In regards to the room upgrade, if there is availability and they feel like spreading some extra magic, they will.

Again, these were our specific experiences, but they are not guaranteed. I'm sure that each place varies and does different things so keep that in mind too. Also, don't forget to wear your birthday pin around in the parks for some well wishes. I hope your son enjoys his third birthday, and if you need anything else, please stop back in and see us!
