We are going to Disney World in September and we are wanting to build a lightsaber at Savi’s and a droid at the droid depot. My concern is that we want to do this as a family and I saw somewhere only one guest is allowed. Is this a strict policy? Thanks

Hi, William!  Or as they say on the planet Batuu, "Bright suns!"

It sounds like the Force is strong with your family, so I'm sure you cannot wait to live out your own Star Wars adventure at Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.  I was lucky enough to visit Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge when it opened at the Disneyland Resort, and it was an amazing experience.  Piloting the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy on Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run was a childhood dream come true!  Although I did not build my own droid or lightsaber during that visit, these are experiences that I am looking forward to trying once Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opens at Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Unfortunately, there is some information regarding the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge at the Walt Disney World Resort that has yet to be revealed.  As Master Yoda once said, "The dark side clouds everything.  Impossible to see the future is."  I know I will be following the Disney Parks Blog closely in the next couple of months to catch all of the latest news and announcements pertaining to Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge.  At this point, the exact procedures for guests wishing to visit Savi's Workshop - Handbuilt Lightsabers and Droid Depot at Walt Disney World Resort's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge have not yet been fully outlined.  However, I was able to consult with some of our Disneyland Resort Panelists to find out how these experiences work at Disneyland Resort.

Savi's Workshop - Handbuilt Lightsabers at Disneyland Resort limits the experience area to the lightsaber builder and two guests, and at least one person in the party must be age 14 or older.  Guests of the builder may not build their own lightsaber.  Droid Depot at Disneyland Resort limits the experience area to the builder and one guest, and at least one person in the party must be age 14 or older.  Although only one guest may accompany the builder while they are assembling their custom astromech droid, other members of the travel party may remain inside the shop and watch from outside of the building area.  It is important to note that space for both of these activities is limited.  As such, guests wishing to participate need to make a reservation.

While there is no way of knowing if the Walt Disney World Resort will follow the same procedures when they start welcoming guests to the planet Batuu, hopefully, this gives you an idea as to what to expect.  Please keep an eye on the Disney Parks Blog for more information as it becomes available.

May the Force be with you!
