Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Katherine!
Ahhhh, those three little words:
Disney Dining Plan. They bring such happiness to my heart! Seriously, my family loves being on the Disney Dining Plan when we visit Walt Disney World Resort. Not only do we love to pre-pay so we can enjoy the all-inclusive feel, but all those snack credits mean we can try so many delicious things, and my husband and I look forward to sitting down at a Table-Service restaurant in the air-conditioning, sipping an included cocktail, and laughing and talking about our day. L-O-V-E it!
This is a great question, Katherine, and a tricky one because substitutions are at the Cast Member’s discretion. There’s no official rule stating that Guests may swap the drink included in a Quick-Service dining entitlement for an eligible snack item or dessert, but many Guests (including me) have been able to do so. My best advice is to politely ask if you’ll be able to make the swap, but know that a yes is not guaranteed. I’ve found that Cast Members want to offer flexibility on the Disney Dining Plan, and they’ll do so when they’re able, so be sure to ask.
If you’re not able to make a substitution, remember that you can request a bottle of water as your drink in many locations, and you can also request options that aren’t soda, such as coffee, tea, or specialty beverages where available. Staying hydrated in the Florida summer is so important, and I’m happy to hear you’re planning to drink lots of water.
Enjoy your September visit to Walt Disney World, Katherine! I can’t get enough of the Mickey Mouse pumpkins in Magic Kingdom Park, where there is
fall magic in the air and spook-tacular fun to be had at
Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Keep an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog as you count down the days to your visit – I love reading their stories about new experiences and tasty treats to be had all around the theme parks, resorts and Disney Springs. Have a blast!
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
