Hey Randee-
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Aren’t allergies the worst? I hate not being able to see due to watery eyes. The hardest part is missing out on all the wonderful scents you wander upon like the fresh baked goods on Main Street, U.S.A. or the orange groves and mountain fresh pine you experience during Epcot’s
Soarin’ attraction.
I made several calls today and after speaking with fantastic Cast Members in Disability Services and Horticulture I finally touched base with the head of Urban Forestry, Scott. He is THE TREE GUY. He told me that due to the hardiness of the oak tree they are planted everywhere but there are some areas that have less than others.
The best resorts are those around the Seven Seas Lagoon. While there are oak trees everywhere including sidewalks, parking lots and common hotel areas, this area has the least. The best is
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort followed by Disney’s Contemporary Resort and finally Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort. Disney’s Art of Animation Resort got a nod only because the resort is new and the oak trees are small. Smaller trees do not contribute much oak tree pollen. There were no other Moderate or Value Level Resorts that were recommended.
In addition, try and visit from November to the beginning of March for the low pollen season. April through June is the worst time to visit
Disney Dad Tip: My allergist suggested I use a saline nasal spray every night to keep the pollen flushed out. Hope it does for you what it is doing for me. Let’s just both be thankful that Walt Disney World Resort was not built in Chicken Little’s hometown of Oakey Oaks.
Randee, enjoy making many sneeze-free and Magical Memories!
