Does Disney World plan on bringing back fastpass+ anytime soon?

Hey there, Brandi. Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. I see that you have a trip to Walt Disney World planned pretty soon. I bet you are getting so excited!

As you know, Disney's FastPass+ program has suspended since the reopening of Walt Disney World last summer. At this time I don't have any information about its return. I feel like Walt Disney World is great about communication and does like to give their Guests plenty of notice when changes are being made. For that reason, I wouldn't count on the FastPass+ program to be back for your Walt Disney World vacation.

When the program was first suspended I was all in a panic. I had my park days down to a science and wasn't sure what I would do without using FastPass+ reservations. But I have to tell you, I actually love it! There is so much flexibility now, I truly just go with the flow and it is so nice. My biggest tip for you navigating the Walt Disney World Theme Parks without the FastPass+ reservation system is to plan for early mornings. Arriving at the parks just 1 hour prior to park opening is going to set you up for a great day. Take yesterday, for example, I was at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park. The park was scheduled to open at 8:00 a.m. I drove and arrived at the parking attendant booths around 7:10 a.m. By 7:15 a.m. I was parked and heading to the entrance of the theme park. Because I was so early, I flew through the temperature check screening and security with no wait time and was in a good spot in line for the park opening. To maintain physical distancing, I've noticed the theme parks are actually letting Guests in prior to the scheduled park opening time - that is why it is so important to arrive early. By 10:00 a.m. yesterday I had flown on the back of a banshee at Avatar Flight of Passage, went on a Kilimanjaro Safari, explored a mountain on Expedition Everest and traveled back in time on DINOSAUR. It was a wonderful morning and I got to cross off several main attractions from my must-do list early on. I like doing the main attractions early in the day when the park is less busy so if I don't want to wait in longer lines in the afternoon I'm not sacrificing something on my list.

I hope you have a wonderful time on your vacation, Brandi. If the FastPass+ system is going to return before your trip, you'll find the announcement on the Disney Parks Blog so be sure to keep an eye out over there. If you have any other questions before your trip, I'd love for you to come back and ask me

    Have fun!

Meet the Panelist: Jackie, North Carolina

I love all things Walt Disney World.  In fact, since becoming Annual Passholders, my family of 3 is always hopping in the car for a quick trip to visit with Mickey Mouse!  I've been known to make the 8 hour each way drive to Walt Disney World (in one day!) to indulge in a Mickey Waffle or enjoy a sunny day at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park.  I may have a small family, but we are always up for some BIG fun at the Walt Disney World Resort.   Learn More About Jackie
