Hi there Michelle, and welcome to planDisney!
One of the great things about having so many Disney Destinations to choose from around the world, is the ability to enjoy both familiar experiences as well as ones that are entirely unique to each location. Though there are quite a few similar rides and attractions between Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort, they're completely different in so many ways - right down
to the admission media, or tickets required to go to any of the theme parks on either coast. In fact, a
1 Park per Day ticket may vary in price between the theme parks themselves quite a bit to the point where you can't necessarily just use it at another location without having to take a few extra steps (or even paying the difference).
Unfortunately at the current time, it's not possible to use a ticket purchased for one day at a Walt Disney World Resort theme park interchangeably for admission at Disneyland Park or Disney California Adventure Park. (Here's hoping this wasn't something that was purchased by mistake, where you might be best served
speaking with the Guest Services Cast Members directly over the phone to ask what they might helpfully suggest in your situation.)
On the bright side, you may have the option to
Reassign your ticket to someone else linked to you through your
Family & Friends list in
My Disney Experience and have them purchase a
ticket for Disneyland Resort for you instead. Avoiding this kind of predicament has made me a big fan of
Disney Gift Cards that can be used for theme park tickets on either coast, which gives the recipient the opportunity to choose where they'd like to go! If your heart is certainly set on heading out to California I highly encourage you to
come back to planDisney and ask questions directly to our Disneyland Resort Panelists in the meantime.
Wishing you all the best as you look to head to Disney Destinations out west!
