Going to Disney World October 2013 for my son's 4th birthday. I've booked lunch @ Hollywood & Vine to meet his favorite Disney Jr characters. Can I get a small birthday cake for an additional fee? What else can I arrange for him?

Hi Leslie! What a fun trip to help celebrate your son's 4th birthday and certainly a memory he will never forget!

Since he is such a fan of the Disney Junior friends he will definitely enjoy lunch at Hollywood and Vine. Every restaurant on property has small cakes available for the guests who are celebrating a special birthday, anniversary or any other occasion. When you check in please let the hostess know you will want one of these cakes delivered to your table. I also quietly let my server know just in case something happened and they didn't get the message.  They will usually deliver it with fanfare to help make your son feel very special on his big day. You can order larger and more personal cakes for a hefty cost but I have found that the kids really don't care about the cake but instead about the idea of the cake. These small ones work just fine and you can put the money to something else to surprise him with.

Make sure you pick up a Birthday button at the Guest Relations location in each park as you enter. Cast members and guests will be wishing him a Happy Birthday the entire day. They even have birthday hats for sale although the little ones rarely keep them on their heads. Instead I would suggest you have some special "ears" engraved for him and you can do that right on the Main Street of Hollywood Studios. Lots of choices of "ears" and he would be more likely to keep this on his head during the day.

The last big way to surprise him would be to contact the Disney Florist and have them do an in-room decoration while you are away in the park that day. They have many great ideas for children and you can see these by going on line at My grandson especially enjoyed the one where they put down Mickey's footsteps on the floor. He thought that was "cool" that Mickey walked in his room! This is a bit expensive but you can put your cake saving money towards something special like this!
