We are going to Disney World in Nov 20. This will be my sons first visit, he will be almost 2.5. I wanted to do something special. What are some exciting extra things to do with him?

    Hi, there!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Stephanie. We're so glad to see you again!

I'm just thrilled to hear you're planning your son's first Walt Disney World Resort vacation. Your heart is going to melt when see him experience the magic in and out of the theme parks! It's my pleasure to share a few can't-miss experiences with you that your little guy is sure to enjoy.

Schedule at least one Character Dining Experience. I love these unique meals because I know my family will enjoy delicious food and the fabulous company of beloved Disney Characters, all in one place! And guess what? Guests under the age of 3 can eat for free at the all-you-care-to-enjoy dining locations! As toddlers, my kids have most loved Chef Mickey's, The Crystal Palace, Hollywood & Vine, and Tusker House Restaurant. These restaurants are super popular and book to capacity quite quickly, so be sure to make your reservations when your booking window opens up 180-days prior to your visit.

Consider making an appointment at Harmony Barber Shop at Magic Kingdom Park. This quaint (and adorable) shop on Main Street, U.S.A. offers a first haircut package that makes for lots of magical memories! My son had his first haircut at Harmony Barber Shop and it's an experience we'll never forget. He wasn't pleased at first, but the friendly Cast Members made every effort to keep him entertained and content while they cut those precious blonde curls for the first time. Some Main Street, U.S.A. performers even played with him through the window of the shop! Gosh, I took some really cute pictures that day. He left looking like quite the little man! He also left with an official milestone certificate, a keepsake lock of hair, and a commemorative Mickey Ears hat. That hat is still on his dresser with all his other favorite treasures (he's 8-years old now)!

Don't forget to pick up a complimentary celebration button from the Front Desk of your Disney Resort hotel or Guest Relations at any of the four theme parks. A "1st Visit" pin makes for a great (and free!) souvenir and sprinkles a little extra pixie-dust on your Walt Disney World Resort vacation!

I hope this was helpful, Stephanie. Please let me know if you have any other questions about traveling to the Walt Disney World Resort with a little one in tow. I'd love to help you plan a magical stay!
