Going to Disney world next year and my parents who are Florida residents are buying tickets for all the grandkids who are 18. Do they have to verify their grandkids are theirs? Or is just need to activate the tickets?

    Hiya Jack!

Welcome to planDisney, and thank you for stopping by to ask us this magical question. Wow, Jack, what an incredible gift that is! I have the most wonderful memories from my trips to Walt Disney World with my family, and I cannot wait for yours to make magical memories that will last a lifetime too!

The good news is that, yes, your parents can take their grandkids without having to prove their family ties or that they have permission to bring them. All they will have to do is ensure that the tickets are all properly linked to the grandkids' My Disney Experience profiles, which they can create themselves. Indeed, I always recommend that Guests over 18 have their own accounts as it makes it easier to plan your vacation. When they purchase the tickets, they can either link them directly to the correct profile if their grandkids are already in their Family & Friends List or send them the confirmation number so that they can link it to their account themselves. If your parents aren't going to be attending, it is important that they select the "This order is a gift" option when purchasing the tickets. Then, they can either use the Disney MagicMobile service to tap into the theme parks, link a MagicBand to their account or stop by a ticketing window at the theme parks to get a physical ticket!

Now, there are two other important things to remember when planning this magical trip. First, even though your parents are Florida residents, they will not be able to purchase theme park tickets with the Florida resident discount for their grandchildren unless they also live in Florida. Indeed, Florida resident tickets require proof of residence or proof that the child is residing with their parents in Florida. Second, it is essential to ensure that each grandchild has a theme park reservation booked in addition to their theme park ticket. Indeed, valid theme park admission includes a ticket and a park reservation. Otherwise, they will not be able to enter the theme parks. Once the theme park tickets are linked to each grandchild's My Disney Experience account, either your parents or their grandkids themselves will be able to book the theme park reservations. With those things in mind, your parents will be set for success and ready to receive the "Best Grandparents Award!"

I hope this was helpful, Jack, and that your parents will be able to bring the Disney magic to life for their grandkids real soon. If you have any other questions when planning this magical vacation, please don't hesitate to reach out! It is always an honour to help you create such magical moments.

    Have a magical day,
