Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Colleen, and hello from a fellow Navy family! Our thanks to your husband for his service, and to you for all you do to serve right alongside him.
It makes my heart happy to hear you'll be spending some pre-deployment together time at Walt Disney World Resort. They take such good care of our military families, with discounts on select resort hotel rooms, the
Military Promotional Ticket Offer, and a discount on Memory Maker photo downloads. When my husband is away, my kiddos love looking at pictures of all of us together in our happy place.
I'm not aware of special events at Walt Disney World for Armed Services Day, but I encourage you to check at your resort hotel's Front Desk or at a Guest Relations location. The Disney Parks Blog is another way to keep up with news from the parks, resorts, and Disney Springs.
On Armed Forces Day, stop at Guest Relations and pick up a Celebration Button. You can note on the button that you're celebrating Armed Forces Day, making it a special keepsake. I'd also check with Guest Relations about the
Flag Retreat in Magic Kingdom Park. This is a special ceremony in which the Color Guard lowers the flag on Main Street, U.S.A. at sunset, and a special Guest veteran carries it in a short processional. It's one of my favorite extra-magic moments. Please stop by Guest Relations and express your interest in participating; while there are no guarantees, it would be a meaningful moment, even as spectators.
Colleen, I hope you make the most magical moments together during your pre-deployment visit to Walt Disney World. I’m sending your family my gratitude and pixie-dusted best wishes for a safe deployment.
Wishing you a magical vacation,
Robyn
