Hey there, Elaine! Welcome to planDisney! I'm so happy that you've stopped by with your oh-so-sweet vacation planning question. Chatting about family time and Disney are my favorites!
In just days, you'll be arriving at The Most Magical Place on Earth, ready to begin your magical family adventure. How exciting! There is always so much to do, see, and taste on a Walt Disney World Resort vacation, especially during the
50th Anniversary Celebration. But I absolutely LOVE the more leisurely side of a Walt Disney World Resort vacation by enjoying downtime and the many
recreation offerings. It really is the best way to relax, soak up the magic, and spend quality time making memories with your most important people. I'm so excited for you to make magical memories soon, and I'm honored to answer your question today.
I think you and your grandson will be happy to hear that there are plenty of opportunities to slow down a bit and
fish around Walt Disney World Resort! There are both two-hour and four-hour catch-and-release fishing excursions on either a Sun Tracker pontoon boat or a bass fishing boat that include your rod and reel, tackle, bait, and a guide. How cool is that?! These excursions are some of the coolest ways to view Walt Disney World Resort and are available at several of the marinas around property. They can be booked by calling (407) 939-FISH or (407) 939-3474. If this is something you would be interested in, I recommend calling now to check availability and book in advance. Get ready to set sail and have the most unforgettable Disney day!
If staying on dry land is more your style, there is also catch-and-release
Dockside Fishing at
Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside and
Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. There are even locations at both Resorts to rent everything you may need! Rent your casting-rod fishing gear at Fishin' Hole at Ol' Man Island at Port Orleans Resort or Bike Barn at Fort Wilderness Resort. The picturesque, relaxing, outdoorsy vibes of these Resorts make it feel as if you're miles from civilization even though you're right in the middle of the magic, and you can use Disney transportation to get to each of these Resorts from your Disney Resort hotel. If you decide to fish at Port Orleans Resort, I suggest taking the bus from your Resort to Disney Springs and then taking the slow-moving, scenic boat ride from Disney Springs to Port Orleans Resort - Riverside. If you will be spending your day fishing at Fort Wilderness Resort, I suggest taking transportation from your Resort hotel to Magic Kingdom Park and then taking the lovely boat ride from Magic Kingdom Park to Fort Wilderness Resort. While you're there enjoying the nature and leisurely side of Disney, be sure to check out
Tri-Circle-D Ranch! You will not believe that this is right in the middle of Walt Disney World Resort!
Elaine, I hope that this was helpful, and I hope that you and your family have the most magical upcoming vacation! Please stop by any time with any vacation planning questions you may have. You've got a friend in me!
I hope to see ya real soon,
Mandy
