Hi there, Roberto!
Welcome to planDisney and thanks for bringing us your
Walt Disney World Resort vacation planning question. It sounds like you're planning to visit The Most Magical Place on Earth in early 2024 - oh boy! My family loves visiting during
Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, Roberto. While I'm an avid runDisney enthusiast, the rest of my family enjoys a vacation that's a little slower-paced. You've chosen a fantastic time to visit the Walt Disney World Resort!
Not only is the weather usually mild and pleasant in January, but the theme parks typically see reduced crowds as well. Of course,
runDisney events tend to draw a crowd, but the days surrounding the race weekend are usually very reasonable, meaning lower attraction wait times for your club of Mouseketeers! Roberto,
theme park hours haven't been released for January 2024 quite yet, but the theme parks are usually open within their normal operating hours, even during the Walt Disney World Marathon! Since this is subject to change, I encourage you to check the Hours & Events Calendar closer to your visit for the most up-to-date information.
Roberto, even though the theme parks will likely be operational during their regular hours, things might look a little different around the Walt Disney World Resort during the morning of the marathon. That's because the
Walt Disney World Marathon takes participants on a 26.2-mile adventure through all four theme parks, around several
Disney Resort hotel areas, and on the roadways connecting these locations! Be prepared for traffic delays when commuting to the theme parks in the morning, but know that these interruptions should clear up by early afternoon. Relying on
Resort transportation is a great way for Guests to avoid traffic troubles, so if you'll be staying at a Disney Resort hotel, I encourage you to make use of this complimentary amenity!
I think you'd be happy to visit any of the fantastic theme parks during the morning of the marathon, Roberto. However, if you're hoping to maximize your time in the parks during the morning, I'd recommend you visit
Disney's Hollywood Studios first that day. While course maps for the 2024 Walt Disney World Marathon haven't been released yet, in previous years, runners haven't entered Disney's Hollywood Studios until around mile 23, and the course has only looped through a small section of this park. Visiting this theme park first would allow you to experience minimal interruptions to your morning!
I hope you've found this information helpful in planning your perfect Disney day, Roberto. I hope you have a fun-filled trip to The Most Magical Place on Earth! If you have any more planning questions, please feel free to stop back by
planDisney again anytime. We're all ears!
See ya real soon,
Lauren
