We will be at Disney World in June with my son (7) and daughter (will turn 3 on the trip). My son loves the Haunted Mansion, but at 3 was terrified of the preshow (although he enjoyed the ride) - is it possible to bypass the streching room this time?

Welcome!, Foolish mortals, to the Haunted Mansion, I am your host, your ghost … I mean, Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. The Haunted Mansion is my favorite attraction! When away, I miss all 999 of my happy haunting friends. Even though they try and come home with me, those three Hitchhiking Ghosts, Phineas, Ezra and Gus, never make it back to my house. It is silly and spooky and designed to amaze and enlighten the spirit in everyone.

This attraction boasts many effects which are magically done for ghoulish delight. The stretching room is one of my favorite parts and I understand why your little ones may want to bypass this unique portrait display. My suggestion, as with all attractions where you need special assistance, would be to approach a Cast Member at the gated entrance to the Haunted Mansion. Explain in detail what you want and why it would make the experience more enjoyable for your children. They will do what they can to help accommodate you and likely bring you through an alternate entrance.

The Haunted Mansion has many eye catching illusions from marble busts of the greatest ghost writers who seem to follow your every move to dead end stairways with glowing footprints. We love that the music “Grim Grinning Ghosts” is played in a different format throughout the entire attraction with the grand jubilee in the graveyard scene near the end. If you listen carefully you will hear it throughout.

When you exit the attraction, after you pass the “1440 Bluebeard” tomb wall, check out the Pet Cemetery on the left. In the back left corner you will find a very mischievous amphibian by the name of Mr. Toad. This statue is an homage to the former Mr. Toad’s Wild Ride attraction.

Make sure to hurry back to the Haunted Mansion … your ghost friends are “dying” to have you again.

    Enjoy making many Magical Memories!
