I will be at Disney world June 4th and need a the electric scooter because because I had surgery. How do I rent one?

    Hiya Debbie,

Welcome to planDisney! I'm so sorry to hear about your surgery. I hope that you are healing well and feeling better every day. A visit to Walt Disney World Resort is probably just what the doctor ordered! After you get to Main Street, U.S.A., I'm sure you will feel so much better! Also, a hug from Mickey Mouse will probably help (did you hear that Character Greetings have returned ?!).

To assist you in having a magical vacation, Walt Disney World Resort does offer wheelchairs and Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) Rentals to Guests experiencing mobility issues such as yourself! You will have to pay a daily fee, and unfortunately, both wheelchairs and ECVs are available on a first-come, first-serve basis each day. If you would like to rent from the Theme Parks or Disney Springs, I highly suggest arriving as early as possible to secure your ECV. Another option that I know of that is popular is to preorder an ECV from ScooterBug, Disney's Featured Provider. The great thing about this option is that you can have the ECV delivered to your Walt Disney World Resort Collection Hotel and have it for your entire stay. Personally, this option may be the best way to go for you, Debbie. I would love to avoid having you wait in a line to get an ECV in the summer heat in Orlando. Please note that to rent an ECV, the Guest utilizing it must be 18 years or older to operate it.

Also, be sure to check out this guide on the Walt Disney World Website about accessibility access for each of the attractions at the Theme Parks. There are quite a few attractions that you will be able to remain in the ECV inside the attraction vehicle, but there are some where you will need to transfer to a wheelchair, etc.

I hope that you have a magical trip! Come back and see us if there is anything else we can help you with.

    Happy Planning,

    Ashley F.
