Hello I am going to Disney World on June 15th. I have the dining plan. My friend said that instead of the desserts, a side would be better. Can I change the dessert from the dining plan for a side? They cost almost the same.

Hi, Humberto! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

One of the magical things about the Disney Dining Plan at Walt Disney World, is that you get dessert with every meal! While this appeals to many, I am not much of a dessert person myself. After a few days, I am looking for some non-sweet alternatives. I like to think I am already sweet enough! I have found that sometimes, I am able to make a substitution and receive a side, appetizer, or serving of fresh fruit. Other times, I have not been able to make a substitution for my dessert option. It certainly does not hurt to ask if your sweet tooth is content. The times I am not able to make the switch I will simply pass on a dessert option altogether, select something I can take for later, or choose an item that someone else in my family may enjoy.

Wishing you and your family a magical vacation, Humberto!

Meet the Panelist: Rachel, Wisconsin

Hi, I’m Rachel! I am a “boy mom” to two rowdy little men at home and married to my high school sweetheart. I am fortunate enough that my prince charming loves all things Disney just as much as I do! For me, planning a trip to Walt Disney World can be just as magical as being there. It brings our family together as we dream, plan, and count down the days. I would be honored to help plan your visit and share in your family’s very own magic! Learn More About Rachel
