Hiya, Melanie! Welcome to planDisney!
Thanks for bringing us your question. Weighing the differences between
all the resort hotels is one of my favorite parts of planning a Walt Disney World vacation. Do we want to stay near the Magic Kingdom? Or maybe somewhere near a
Skyliner station? What’s the pool situation? Do they have pizza at the food court? There are so many great options to fit your budget and preferences.
Regular maintenance and care are needed to keep all the resorts and theme parks bibbidi bobbidi beautiful! With so many hotels, it’s not uncommon for construction projects to be happening at multiple resorts.
I perused the list of Walt Disney World Resort hotels and spotted several with notices about refurbishment projects. You can find these refurbishment notices on the overview page of any resort hotel webpage, usually in red and posted just below the large image near the top. Walt Disney World posts these notices as far in advance as possible. For example, while researching this question I noticed that All-Star Sports has a notice, but then I discovered it’s about pool maintenance happening in January 2026! Be sure to read the details of each notice because they can describe very different projects. Sometimes it's about a pool being refurbished while others might be about exterior painting. They often provide dates for starting and completion (which are subject to change) so you can see if it overlaps with your vacation.
At the time I’m writing this, there are many resort hotels with no refurbishment notices posted on their overview page. This could change at any time, but they currently include:
- All-Star Music Resort
- Animal Kingdom Lodge
- Animal Kingdom Villas - Jambo House
- Animal Kingdom Villas - Kidani Village
- BoardWalk Inn
- BoardWalk Villas
- Caribbean Beach Resort
- Coronado Springs Resort
- Old Key West Resort
- Riviera Resort
- Saratoga Springs Resort
- The Cabins at Fort Wilderness
- Walt Disney World Swan Hotel
- Walt Disney World Dolphin Hotel
- Walt Disney World Swan Reserve
Again, this is always subject to change. If you book a hotel and a refurbishment project is announced after the fact, you should receive an email from the hotel explaining the impact of the work. You can always
rebook at a different resort if you feel like the refurbishment will negatively impact your stay.
Melanie, I hope this helps with your vacation planning. If you have any other questions or need recommendations on resorts, dining, or attractions, your pals at planDisney are always here to help!
Happy planning!
Matt
