Hi does Disney World have a garden of remembrance? We are visiting from the UK in October and this coinsides with the first anniversary of the passing of my childrens Aunty. Florida was very special to her and I would love to mark this special day somehow.

    Hi Shelly.

I'm so sorry to hear that your family lost a beloved family member this past year.
How lovely though that you're wanting to remember a special Aunty during your next trip to Walt Disney World. I'm sure she'll be with you all in spirit during your trip. It's such a special place for so many people, with so many fabulous, family memories made.

Although there is no Garden of Remembrance per se, I do have a few suggestions for lovely, quiet spots where you could gather as a family to honour your dear children's Aunty.

My favourite spot in Magic Kingdom, at which to make a wish and bask in a beautiful and serene moment, is at Cinderella Wishing Well. This beautiful wishing well is located in a little alcove along the pathway that leads from Tomorrowland, up to the right-hand side of the Castle. There's a little bench next to it as well. It's a picturesque spot, perfect for a few family photos, and perfect to gather and discuss happy, family memories about dear Aunty. Another lovely feature at this well, the coins dropped in as wishes are made, are collected regularly and donated to children's charities. I just love this quiet little corner amidst the Magic of Magic Kingdom.

Another spot to consider, perfect for your family's background, would be the beautiful garden at Epcot's UK Pavilion area. Cozy with a cottage-feel, the gardens on the far side of the pavilion, closest to the International Gateway, provide a private little spot to sit and reminisce together. There's also a beautiful courtyard and garden area located through the garden path at the rear of the pavilion area.

I hope that one of these ideas suits your family's desires for a special time to remember a dear family member.

Please feel free to write back if you should have further questions. I'd love to hear from you again.
Wishing you and your family a simply Magical time at Walt Disney World Shelly.
