I will be in Disney World in December, I am trying to plan however I have noticed that Hollywood Studios do not run Fantasmic on 12/5/10 the only night the park is open past 8pm during the week I am there. why is this?

    Hi Lynne,

Disney World in December is incredible!  The parks and resorts are beautifully decorated and there is a little extra magical feel in the air.

Fantasmic! is now only held on select evenings at Disney's Hollywood Studios.  While I don't know for sure, I'd venture to guess that one reason is because the cost to perform this show is pretty pricey and if you've ever seen it, you'd know why - it is filled with special effects, lots of performers, pyrotechnics, water effects - its just off the charts amazing.

During a peak season, Fantasmic! is performed more often - sometimes twice an evening. During a non-peak season, they don't hold the show as often. During the winter months when the sun sets earlier, they typically have an earlier performance time for Fantasmic! as well.   The same thing goes for park hours, during peak season, the parks are open longer. They also rotate the evening and morning Extra Magic Hours between the parks.

There are lots of advantages to traveling during a non-peak season though.  Smaller crowd sizes make for shorter lines and you get to enjoy more attractions in a smaller amount of time. You can also look into deals for Disney vacation packages.  Getting ADRs is a little easier too. And because you're visiting when the parks and resorts will be decorated for Christmas, it will be a little nice for you to have extra elbow room to enjoy them.

I hope you an incredible trip and are able to attend a performance of Fantasmic! during your visit. My family loves it and I know that you will too.  Wishing you many magical memories :-) Allison
