We are going to Disney World Dec 13-18. I was wondering which resturant would be better for our 1st night....Trail's End or Rainforest Cafe? It will be 4 of us, DH, DS 4, DS 9 Mo and myself. We are staying at the CBR.

    Hi Elizabeth,

December is one of my favorite times of year to visit Disney World.  The parks and resorts are "all dressed up" in their holiday best, and there are a number of special events and happenings that can make your vacation even more magical!

If I had to pick between Trail's End at Fort Wilderness Campground or Rainforest Cafe for your first night, I'd vote for Rainforest Cafe.  Rainforest Cafe is an incredibly well-themed restaurant, with two locations at Downtown Disney and Animal Kingdom.  While you dine, you will be surrounded by the sights, sounds and animals that occupy a tropical rainforest.  The menu is huge, and has great options for kids.  I'd narrow my suggestion further and recommend eating at the Downtown Disney location.  Browsing the shops after you eat is a great way to get in the Disney spirit!

Trail's End is a buffet-style restaurant with choices that usually include fried chicken, peel-and-eat shrimp, pasta and ribs.  It's a nice place to spend an evening, but I'm guessing your boys will have a better time at Rainforest Cafe.  I will say that if you plan on heading over to Magic Kingdom after dinner, or want to take part in any of the great activities available at Fort Wilderness, including the nightly campfire and sing along with Chip n' Dale, then Trail's End might make more sense.  (The Magic Kingdom is a quick boat ride away from the Fort.)

    Have a wonderful vacation!
