Will be in Disney world on Dec 6th, day of new Fantasyland grand opening with 4&2yo. Debating Magic Kingdom vs other park that day. Based on your experience, is there anything special on opening days, making it worth the crowds?

    Hey Sharon!

Grand Opening celebrations at Disney Parks are second-to-none.  There is usually a dedication ceremony and entertainment.  This prohibits guests from touring the area in the morning and crowds may be a little crazy in that section of Magic Kingdom Park.  That being said, there have been extensive guest previews of the area, so it may bring the crowds down on that particular day.

All things considered, I don't know that I would bring my little ones to the ceremony.  I have a two and four year old as well, and I know they can get easily overstimulated in large crowds and they wouldn't be interested in the dedication ceremony.  Also, the waits for the star attractions may get quite lengthy on December 6th.  For the sake of my kids, I'd be heading to a different park that day, or even hanging out at the resort for some relaxation and swim time.  I always make sure to leave a day in between parks for them to get a little downtime and away from the stimulation of the parks.

I hope this helps, Sharon! Enjoy your magical vacation.  It's right around the corner!  Let us know if you have any last-minute planning questions.
