I've never been to Disney World and we want to take our daughter when she turn's 5. I'm looking for a quiet resort and want to know if the beginning of May would be a good time to beat the crowds?

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Nicole!

I’m thrilled to learn you are planning that very special first visit to the Walt Disney World Resort. I’ll never forget my first visit. Getting to see Cinderella Castle in person for the first time took my breath away! It was real life magic. I hope you have an equally magical and unforgettable visit.

That first week of May has been my family’s go-to week to visit for many years. I love that the summer crowds have not yet arrived. Nor have the summer heat and afternoon showers. It’s warm, but not uncomfortable, and one of my favorite festivals, the Epcot International Flower & Garden Festival is in full bloom. I’m all for an early May visit. And BONUS! You might even get to celebrate Mother’s Day at the most magical place on earth. And that’s what I would call a pixie-dusted Mother’s Day gift!

When it comes to quiet resorts, the first one the immediately comes to mind is Disney’s Port Orleans French Quarter or its sister resort, Disney’s Port Orleans Riverside Resort. These quaint resorts filled with southern charm are picturesque and serene. The grounds are stunning, and there is even a convenient water taxi that will transport you straight to Disney Springs! They are loaded with amenities and all the attention to detail you can expect from a Disney resort set in a quiet and peaceful setting. I think you would love staying at either one!

I hope this helps as you begin planning your first visit. Hopefully it’s the first of many! Be sure to stop by and see us again soon for any additional planning tips or advice.

    Wishing you a magical day,
