Aloha, Jeannette and welcome to planDisney!
Jeannette, I'm thrilled to chat with you about one of the original Walt Disney World resorts,
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. Celebrating its 50th birthday right along side you, this iconic resort opened in 1971 with Disney's Contemporary Resort and
Magic Kingdom Park. With its retro tiki vibes and island culture, this resort exudes personality and is one of my favorite places to visit.
Disney's Polynesian Village Resort not only can boast about its close proximity to Magic Kingdom Park, but its wonderful dining options and a perfectly themed pool as well. If you enjoy a decadent breakfast, look no further than
Kona Cafe and its signature Tonga Toast. If, like me, you can never have too many
DOLE Whips®, head over to the
Pineapple Lanai to order that frozen treat. Only a short stroll away, you'll find the
Lava Pool complete with a slide for Mouseketeers of all ages and a volcano even Maui would say is majestic.
Jeannette, since you'll be celebrating your golden birthday, I say there is no better reason to shower yourself with gifts! If you love to shop as I do, check out the
BouTiki and the
Moana Mercantile, both located inside Disney's Polynesian Village Resort.
Finally, while the days at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort are wonderous, the nights come alive with Magic as you are able to watch the
Electrical Water Pageant floating across the Seven Seas Lagoon from the beach. This charming lighted parade is only accessible from a few resorts and is the perfect way to close out a busy day.
Jeannette, I hope this helps as you're looking ahead to your vacation. As you continue to plan, please take a moment and read about the
current refresh that is happening at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. Construction is slated to be completed in time for its birthday in October. I can't wait to see the new entryway and guests rooms inspired by the Disney film, Moana.
Mahalo (
or thank you) for stopping by planDisney with your question. Please come on back and see us with any other questions you might have. Just like Moana's Grandma Tala, we are here to guide you when needed.
And... while Maui likes to say "You're welcome," I'll say, Happy Birthday!
Lauren
