I am going to Disney World this August with my 1 year old and my 16 yr old for the very first time! Could you explain the Magic Band in more detail? We are also going to do the quick dining service is my 1 year old going to be able to get her own meal?

    Hi Nicole,

Greetings from a fellow Hoosier! I'm super excited to hear that you're planning your first visit to the Walt Disney World Resort! You are going to have SO MUCH FUN and make memories that you'll cherish forever!

MagicBands are simply colorful bands worn on your wrist, and while they don't actually hold any data on them, they do link back to your My Disney Experience account to access your theme park ticket, FastPass+ selections, Disney Resort hotel information, and Disney PhotoPass photos. When you're ready to enter a theme park, hop in a FastPass+ queue, charge a purchase back to your Disney Resort hotel room, or link a Disney PhotoPass photo to your account, you simply touch your MagicBand to the touch point without needing to pull a card out of your pocket or wallet. So easy! If you're staying at a Disney Resort hotel, one of the many perks is that you'll receive complimentary MagicBands. If you're staying elsewhere, you may buy them online ahead of time or at a number of retail shops located all around the Walt Disney World Resort.

As far as your littlest Mouseketeer, she won't receive her own entitlements for your Disney Dining Plan meals, but she is more than welcome to share your food. You do receive all of your entitlements for your entire party in one lump sum when you check in, and it's up to you how you use them. If you'd like to use snack credits or meal entitlements for her, you'll be able to; you just may not have enough entitlements to last your entire vacation. You are always welcome to add additional food and pay out of pocket for it, too!

Thanks so much for visiting us at the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Nicole, and have a truly magical vacation!
