Hi, I am going to Disney World in August and I will need to use a wheelchair throughout the stay. Last year I was given a Special Assistance Card but I have heard that these are no longer being issued for guests in wheelchairs. Is this true? Thanks

Hi Robert!  Thank you so much for your question.  Guest Assistance Cards are issued for guests with disabilities that may not necessarily be visible to the Cast Member, or disabilities that may need an explanation, so the Cast Member is able to direct the guest to the appropriate entrance or waiting area.  I spoke to a Cast member at Guest Relations on my most recent visit, and was told that guests in wheelchairs are not being issued Guest Assistance Cards due to the fact that the Cast Member can visibly identify if the guest needs to use an alternate entrance.  We found that for most rides and attractions, we were directed to the regular line as many of them now have been made to be wheelchair friendly.  If there is something else that prevents you from being able to wait in the regular line, you will need to discuss your needs with a Cast Member at Guest Relations who will issue a Guest Assistance Card if necessary.

Robert, thank you for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel to ask your question, and I wish you a very magical Walt Disney World vacation!
