Hiya Kim!
Welcome to planDisney, the most magical place on the internet! I am always so happy to answer questions from my fellow Canadians, and since I grew up in Quebec, that practically makes us neighbours, right?
I don't know about you, Kim, but I often have a hard time limiting my purchases at the Walt Disney World Resort, especially during those EPCOT festivals. Those food booths will get you! As per the
Disney Gift Card website, unfortunately, purchases made in the United States with a Canadian gift card will be subject to the current conversion rate. Indeed, if a purchase is made in U.S. dollars, it will be converted to Canadian dollars, and that will be deducted from your Gift Card's balance. For more information about how Canadian Disney Gift Cards work, I highly recommend looking into the "
Gift Card Terms & Conditions – Canada" section on the Disney Gift Card website.
Now, Kim, should you want to purchase American Gift Cards, you can still do so in the theme parks! In fact, one of my favourite things to do during the
EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival is to get one of the themed gift cards that can be kept around your wrist. You can then easily use these gift cards to pay for any treats or souvenirs you may be buying, and you can even use any remaining balance outside of the theme parks! Indeed, since this is simply a regular Disney Gift Card, you would even be able to use it as your form of payment on the
My Disney Experience mobile app!
I hope this was helpful, Kim, and that you will have the best day ever on your next Disney vacation. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to reach back out! It is always an honour to help fellow Canadians like me.
Have a magical day,
Ariane
