Hi. We are going on Disney Wonder Cruise 2010. I see there is a transportations fee of $276 to take us to and from the ship. Now, we are booking a sep. trip on grd. for 7 days and they too want to charge a lot for the transportaion. Is there a cheaper

You must be traveling with a party of 4 since the current ground transportation cost is $69 per person.

I agree that the cost is high, especially when considering that I rented a car for 10 nights last month for $227 total. While the DCL ground transportation is convenient, the cost can be expensive for families.

There are more economical options, including renting a one-way car. Renting from Budget between Port Canaveral and the airport seems to be the most convenient. Sometimes a one-way rate can be found for $45 or even less when using a coupon code. Budget offers a free shuttle from their office to the port. Just remember that you'll need to factor in some extra time to get the car and drop it off. If you'll be traveling from the WDW resort, we find picking up a National car rental at the Dolphin hotel to be very convenient.

Another option is a luxury sedan. Happy Limo currently offers a round-trip transfer for a family of 4 at $200. However, you'll need to figure in a driver gratuity, taxes, and other fees such as an airport surcharge. Use a coupon to save at least $10. I just love arriving the Orlando International Airport to see a driver holding up a sign with my name on it! This is a wonderful way to travel.

Some families also drive to the port, however the current parking rate is $15 per night. When we've driven to Florida, we have parked our car at the port. Parking was secure.

Try pricing out the above options. If convenience is your goal, stick with the DCL bus or a luxury sedan. If you aim to save money, then opt for the one-way car rentals.
