Now, I'm going to give you the actual, factual answer, and then my emotional one. No,
DisneyBand+ is not currently required for your cruise. While on select cruises, you can use your band to unlock your stateroom, charge merchandise, food, and drinks, link onboard photos to your account, access youth activities, embark and disembark (ID is still required as well), and enjoy some interactive elements. That said, it is not necessary to have one. Instead, you can use the
Key to the World Card you'll be provided for the necessary functions, not including some of the haptics and interactive games onboard your ship, if available.
Now, for my
emotional answer. You absolutely need one. But this is coming from a MagicBand and DisneyBand enthusiast. I love collecting them, buying ones to coordinate with each outfit, and looking down at one just makes me smile. And the good news? If you already have a
MagicBand+ from the
Walt Disney World Resort or the
Disneyland Resort, you can typically use it on your cruise. Just make sure it’s linked to your
MyDisney account before you sail, bring it with you in your carry-on luggage, and a Port Agent will activate it for shipboard use when you check in.
